If you are looking for a Horde lockpicking guide 2010, here’s a overview that will surely help you to raise your skill level from 1-400 while you are leveling your character.

Level 1-170

Start off by practicing lock-picking on the ship off the Merchant coast. It’s right in the south of Ratchet.

Once you hit character level 20, you can do your poison quest – a great opportunity to level your lock-picking skill as well.

In this area you will also find dozens of humanoids, mostly pirates of some sort. Whenever you get the chance, pick their pockets in order to get as many lockboxes as possible and pick them as well.

This way you should be able to boost your skill up to 150-170.

Level 150-255

One option to level your skill up is to visit Desolace. Off the shore in the northwest you can find Mossy and Waterlogged Footlockers. The coordinates are 36/11 and 37/21. Since the Footlockers are waiting underwater you should get some Waterbreathing potions!

Around the Angorn Fortress in the Badlands you can find Dented and Battered Footlockers – the second option to raise your skill to 225.

Level 225-250

Your next stop is the Searing Gorge: Run down the Slag Pit and pick as many Footlockers as you need to get level 250.

Level 250-300

In my opinion, the best way to level your skill at this level is Tyr’s Hand. Circle around the area and pickpocket the mobs for Scarlet Footlockers.

Level 300-375

Head over to the Zangarmarsh and right to the Feralfen Village in the south of Coilfang. You will find three little villages and every village has some huts with enough chests for you to pick. While you are in the area, my Horde lockpicking guide 2010 recommends you to pickpocket the enemies for Strong Junkboxes, too.

Level 350-400

When you finally reach this level, the best way to get the last remaining skill points is picking the pockets of every humanoid mob you come across. If you do this, hitting your skill cap should be a piece of cake!

Leveling a Troll Rogue? Trolls make fine Rogues and allow some pretty effective class / race / profession combinations. This Troll Rogue leveling guide will show you some tricks that will make leveling your Rogue twink easier.

Racial abilities

• Berserking: “Activate to increase attack and casting speed by 20% for 10 seconds. 3 minute cooldown.”
• Regeneration: “Health regeneration increased by 10%. 10% of total Health regeneration may continue during combat.“
• Beast Slaying: “Damage dealt versus Beasts increased by 5%.“
• Throwing Weapon Specialization: “Your chance to critically hit with Throwing Weapons is increased by 1%.”
• Bow Specialization: “Your chance to critically hit with Bows is increased by 1%. “
• Da Voodoo Shuffle: “Reduces the duration of all movement impairing effects by 15%. Trolls be flippin’ out mon!”

The main feature of a Troll Rogue is the “Berserking” and “Beast Slaying” racial ability. When you compare the Trolls “Berserking” to the Orcs’ “Blood Fury” it seems that the Troll has a slight disadvantage. But Trolls get a boost that always has the same percentage while the Orcs’ ability has a fixed value. “Berserking” scales with your gear.

Once you manage to get a high amount of attack rating / agility, “Berserking” can become more effective than any other racial ability.

“Beast Slaying” makes you more effective against Beasts and makes the combination with a certain profession very attractive, as you will see in the next section of my Troll Rogue leveling guide.

Professions

Skinning makes a fine gathering profession for the Troll Rogue, as it creates a Synergy with “Beast Slaying”. It also gives you a passive boost to your critical strike rating – mandatory for every Rogue!

Here’s the bonus you’ll receive:

• Rank 1: Crit. rating +3, required level: 1
• Rank 2: Crit. rating +6, required level: 1
• Rank 3: Crit. rating +9, required level: 10
• Rank 4: Crit. rating +12, required level: 25
• Rank 5: Crit. rating +20, required level: 40
• Rank 6: Crit. rating +40, required level: 55

Conclusion

If you combine Trolls, Skinning and Leatherworking, you will get a Rogue that is able to kill off Beasts faster than any other race, gets the most benefits from the killed mobs and can create items out of the loot. Plus you get extra crit. rating!

Here is a combat rogue skill rotation guide that will show you an attack rotation for nearly every situation. You can easily take on up to 5 Mobs at once with the right combat rogue skill rotation.

Skill Rotation – 1 Mob

1. (Initiation Ability)
2. Slice and Dice
3. 5x Sinister Strike
4. Eviscerate

This is the shortest and easiest combat rogue skill rotation. The first skill is your initiation. That means you can basically fill in any skill that creates combo points as your initiation ability. Garrot, Sinister Strike and Cheap Shot are viable options.

The most important thing is that you get at least 1 combo point for Slice and Dice.

Skill Rotation – 2 Mobs

1. Garrot Mob 1
2. Slice and Dice
3. Switch to Mob 2
4. Blade Flurry
5. 5x Sinister Strike
6. Eviscerate

In case Mob 1 is still alive you can either auto-attack or just use the skill rotation for 1 Mob.

One note here: Although I write that you have to use Sinister Strikes five times, it’s actually about getting 5 combo points for your finishing move. Skip the Sinister Strike if you manage to get the 5 points and just execute Eviscerate.

Skill Rotation – 3 Mobs

1. Garrot Mob 1
2. Slice and Dice
3. Switch to Mob 2
4. Adrenaline Rush
5. Blade Flurry
6. Evasion
7. 5x Sinister Strike
8. Eviscerate
9. Switch to next Mob
10. (Skill Rotation 1)

You see, as soon as you start to fight several mobs you start to repeat the first attack rotation against every mob until they are all dead. That’s why I’m going to write (Skill rotation 1) instead of: Slice and dice -> 5x Sinister Strike -> Eviscerate. Much easier this way.

Skill Rotation – 4 Mobs

1. Sap Mob 1
2. Wait until you have enough energy
3. Garrote Mob 2
4. Slice and Dice
5. Switch to Mob 3
6. Adrenaline Rush
7. Blade Flurry
8. Evasion
9. 5x Sinister Strike
10. Eviscerate
11. (Skill Rotation 1) on all un-sapped Mobs
12. (Skill Rotation 1) on the sapped Mob

Skill Rotation – 5 Mobs

1. Sap Mob 1
2. Wait until you have enough energy
3. Garrote Mob 2
4. Slice and Dice
5. Swtich to Mob 3
6. Adrenaline Rush
7. Blade Flurry
8. Evasion
9. 5x Sinister Strike
10. Eviscerate

13. Bandage yourself

Once you have mastered this last combat rogue skill rotation there’s hardly any group of mobs that you can’t solo. Have fun playing your combat rogue!

Orcs are one of the best races to level up and play a Rogue. In this Orc Rogue guide I want to show you the advantages of Orc Rogues, the best talent spec to level 1-80 and how to get the most out of your attack rotation.

Orc Rogue Guide – Racial Abilities

Blood Fury – Increases your attack power by (Level*4)+2. Lasts 15 seconds. 2 minutes cooldown.

Blood Fury is a perfect racial for a melee DPS class such as the Rogue. It gives +322 attack and statistically increases your attack power by 40 all the time (on level 80) if properly used.

Command – Damage dealt by Death Knight, Hunter and Warlock pets increased by 5%.

Well, this racial ability is useless for Rogues.

Axe Specialization – Expertise with Axes, Two-Handed Axes and Fist Weapons increased by 5.

In the past this was totally useless until with patch 3.2 Rogues are able to wield axes. I haven’t seen a good Rogue build that relies an axes yet.

Hardiness – Duration of Stun effects reduced by an additional 15%.

Hardiness is mainly a PvP skill for the Rogue. Although 15% isn’t really much, it can help out in critical situations.

Orcs make great Rogues mainly due to Blood Fury. It’s the bread-and-butter racial that you should have activated whenever you can while leveling. In a raid group you should save it for moments when burst damage is required or keep it up all the time for consistently high damage.

This is how I recommend you to spend your talent points:

Please note that this is the *exact* order in which I recommend you to spend your points to get the best effect.

Orc Rogue Guide – Leveling Attack Rotation

Having a proven leveling spec is good, knowing how to use the skills is better. Here are some basic attack rotations that my Orc Rogue guide highly recommends:

Fighting against 1 Mob: Sinister Strike, Slice and Dice, Sinister Strike (x5), Eviscerate.

Fighting against 2 Mobs: Garrot target(1), Slice and Dice, Switch to target(2), Blade Flurry, Sinister Strike (x5), Eviscerate.

By now the targets should both be dead, but if target(1) is still alive, just switch back and finish it off.

So, you are leveling up a new rogue and want to get to level 80 as soon as possible? This rogue power leveling guide will help you to optimize your rogue for fast leveling and reveal the best methods to gather exp.

Don’t Join Groups

First question is: How do you level faster? On your own or in a group with your friends? The answer is simple: Right now the majority off all quests can be solved on your own and only a few quests actually need you to group up. But these quests take too much time to do them anyway.

Cataclysm will change this as Blizzard wants to support groups in the early game. But right now my rogue power leveling guide recommends you to level on your own.

Don’t Visit Instances

Doing quests and killing mobs in an instance gives more exp than regular quests/mobs. But don’t be fooled – you have to invest a lot more time as well. When it comes to xp/hour, most instances aren’t worth your time. They are fun when visited with friends, but when it comes to power leveling, instances waste your time.

Questing > Grinding

For a long time grinding was the way to power level your character, but these days are gone. Blizzard has changed the game mechanics because they want the players to level up by questing. If you seriously want to grind, then grind quests and quest mobs!

Swords > Daggers

I highly recommend the Combat Leveling Spec! Use swords instead of daggers – you are not on the battleground, you are killing quest mobs. Sneaking up on the target and use any kind of Subtlety or Assassination spec slows you down.

The combat spec on the other hand enables you to take on groups of 5+ mobs at once and deal with them really fast. Take a look at my rogue skill guide for some great attack rotations.

Use An Ingame Leveling Guide

If you haven’t heard of ingame leveling guides, it’s about time. If you are serious about power leveling your rogue, you don’t want to rely on a text-guide and alt-tab back and forth. The only way to get the maximum xp/hour is to follow the perfect questing path given by a leveling add-on.

If you miss this, you will waste a lot of time doing junk-quests that give you little xp/hour and you will run in circles and do quests in a very ineffective manner.

The Simple Approach

One way to approach leveling your lockpicking skill is doing every quest that involves killing humanoids that you can pickpocket from.

Simply use every opportunity to pickpocket lockboxes from your targets and pick them to increase your skill. You can also get some rogue poisons this way.

The More Detailed Way

First of all, my rogue lockpicking leveling guide will show you how to level your skill from lv. 1-170.

Alliance rogues should start in Alther’s Mill in the Redridge Mountains – the practice lockboxes respawn very quickly. Then proceed with the rogues’s poison quest which you can pick up at level 20. The lock can be picked even after the quest is completed, but note that the poison “Touch of Zanzil” is applied every time you pick the lock. You can easily get level 170 this way.

Horde Rogues should start to practice picking the locks on the ship off the Merchant Coast south of Ratchet. When they get to level 20, Horde rogues can also level their skill with the poison quest.

Your next step in my rogue lockpicking leveling guide is to get from level 150-225.

Two paths are available. One option is to pick Waterlogged and Mossy Footlockers in Desolace. You can find them off the NW shore around 37, 21 and around 36, 11. Don’t forget to get enough water breathing potions!

The next option is to lockpick Battered and Dented Footlockers in the Angor Fortress in the Badlands.

If you are not at level 225 by now, sneak into the Sacrlet Monastery and pickpocket the first 3 mobs you encounter. Sneak out again and reset the dungeon timer. Once you reach level 225 head to the Searing Gorge, down the Slag Pit and lockpick the Dented Footlockers.

To get from level 250-255, dive around the Sunken Temple in the Swamp of Sorrows and get all the Mossy Footlockers.

The next step in this rogue lockpicking leveling guide – get from 250-300. A good way to do it is to circle Tyrs Hand and pickpocket the mobs for Scarlet Footlockers. There are other options as well, but this one should do the job for you.

Now, from 300-375 I recommend you to go to the Feralfen Village in Zangarmarsh (south of Coilfang Reservoir). There are 3 areas of buildings with more than enough chests. Don’t forget to pickpocket the mobs for Strong Junkboxes!

You can also visit the Black Temple: Pickpocket the Warrior/Paladin Blood Elves outside the Temple for Strong Junkboxes.

To get from level 350-400, I suggest you make it a habit to pickpocket each and every humanoid target before you kill them. This way you will get enough Reinforced Junkboxes to max your lockpicking skill.

Orc

Orc rogues get a great bonus from their racial ability “Blood Fury” which increases your attack power for a few seconds. Especially in combination with the combat rogue talent build and the right skill rotations, you can use Blood Fury to level a lot faster!

Orcs are great for leveling, but they also shine in raids and PvP.

Undead

The leveling potential of undead rogues is okay. “Cannibalize” will help you recover health after killing humanoid or undead mobs. Use it whenever you have a cooldown on your bandages.

The Undead are okay for leveling, but their true strength lies in their PvP ability.

Trolls

Troll rogues get the racial ability “Berserk” which helps you to deal more damage, but it’s not as good as Blood Fury. All in all, trolls are right behind orcs when it comes to leveling speed.

Blood Elves

Blood Elves do not help you to level any faster. In my opinion, they lack any ability to support your leveling or raid potential. Their “Arcane Torrent” silence ability can be used for PvP, but that’s it.

What Else Do You Need?

When you have chosen the best race for your character, you can start to optimize the other important factors. My horde rogue leveling guide will give you an overview:

You need an effective and proven leveling talent spec. In my opinion, one of the best builds is the combat spec. It focuses on direct confrontation instead of sneaking around and can deal with more mobs simultaneous.

Of course you have to supplement your build with the matching Glyphs.

Your gear is also important. I recommend you to look out for gear that focuses on Agility, Hit Rating and Attack Power.

And last but not least, a very important factor is streamlining your questing path. Questing is the fastest way to level 1-80 (better than grinding). Still, many inexperienced players waste lots of time stumbling through the world and doing “junk-quests” that give them little reward.

What’s the best combat rogue skill rotation? If you can answer this question, you can do most anything with your rogue. My rogue skill guide will help you to figure out how to get the most out of your combat rogue.

Before I jump into the combinations, here are some important abbreviations:

• SS – Sinister Strike
• SnD – Slice and Dice
• Evis = Eviscerate
• BF = Blade Flurry
• AR = Adrenaline Rush

Now, on to the skill rotations!

Rogue Leveling Guide – Rotations For The Combat Rogue

Fighting 1 Mob – Basic Rotation:

• SS  >  SnD  >  SS x5  >  Evis

This is the most basic rogue skill rotation and you will see that in all the other rogue skill rotations this procedure will come up again and again. It’s basically the one attack rotation you use to kill one mob after another.

You see that it says you have to use SS 5 times? Of course you can eviscerate earlier if you’ve got your 5 combo-points up.

Fighting 2 Mobs

• Garrot mob(1)  >  SnD  >  Target mob(2)  >  BF  >  SS x5  >  Evis

Once you are done with mob(2) you can switch back to mob (1) if it’s not already killed by your Blade Flurry.

Fighting 3 Mobs

• Garrote mob(1)  >  SnD  >  Target mob(2)  >  AR  >  BF  >  Evasion  >  SS x5  >  Evis  >  Switch to next target  >  SnD  >  SS x5  >  Evis

Usually you can proceed like this. Whenever one target dies (and you are not about to die) switch to the next, SnD, SS and Evis.

Fighting 4 mobs

• Sab mob (1)  >  Regen energy  >  Garrote mob(2)  >  SnD  >  Target mob(3)  >  AR  >  BF  >  Evasion  >  SS x5  >  Evis  >  Repeat SnD, SS x5 and Evis until unsapped mobs are down

Much like when fighting 3 mobs, only that you have to sap one first.

Fighting 5 mobs

Fighting 5 mobs is just like fighting 4 mobs with one difference:

• Follow the above until only 1 unsapped mob remains  >  Blind unsappend mob  >  Bandage  >  Repeat basic killing routine
